Assistant Project Manager – BHP Safe Spaces
Shauntelle Jones is an ambitious young woman who has been involved in the Arts for over 10 years. She started in Debe High School, where she was asked to be a part of Derek Walcott’s Malcochon, after which she got ‘bit by the theatre bug.’ After participating in Secondary School Drama Festival and enjoying being on stage, she enrolled in the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine Campus, where she pursued a degree in Theatre Arts. This degree allowed for involvement in all aspects of the theatre from set to costume design. Every theatrical component that made a theatre show come alive, made Shauntelle come alive as she gained a greater understanding of the world of theatre.
She has been involved in world renowned plays like Earl Lovelace’s Salt , Japanese classic Rashomon, and Efebo Wilkinson’s , Bitter Cassava. Through her Bachelor’s degree, she became an artist facilitator with Arts-in-Action, where she learned more about community outreach and the impact theatre has on human beings.
Shauntelle has also served in technical capacities in the Trinidad and Tobago Dimanche Gras Carnival feature and has performed in lead roles for the national Best Village theatre program and Carifesta, the fourteenth edition. She is currently the Assistant Project Manager for Arts-in-Action’s Safe Spaces project, funded by partner BHP, where she uses her artistic ability to inspire, teach and transform lives.
