The TTPS Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) “Hearts and Minds” programme since its inception has sought to apply arts-based strategies in the fostering of a social change dynamic among the youths in the Port-of Spain area, in particular, the Morvant/Laventille, East Dry River and Beetham communities. Among their initiatives to develop the youths in these communities, is the servicing of youths within the following areas:
- Police Youth Clubs
- Secondary Schools
- Primary schools
- Sporting Activities
- Other club initiatives
Today, subsequent to an invitation from the late, renowned social activist, Theatre-in-Education pioneer and major ‘Hearts and Minds’ partner Hal Greaves,
Arts-in-Action has sought to carry on the work implemented by this phenomenal individual, especially as it pertains to youth development.
Currently, Arts-in-Action has secured the partnership of Angostura Ltd and Republic Bank during the pre- COVID 19 lockdown period, to enter into primary schools and Police Youth clubs in the area. The main focus of Arts-in-Action’s work will be to use drama and theatre as tools to approach issues affecting youth development and youth empowerment. These tools will also include all new online vehicles.
